On the 6th July 2024, ĶFMI Botswana led by Dr Martha Butale together with the KFMI CEO Pastor Lolita Ngobeni, led a group of around 60 partners to a village called Tlokweng, 15 kilometers away from the City Gaborone. This is where a charity event was held in a school called “ I Am Special Education Center”. This is a school of children born with a learning disability. The school head and founder Ms Marina Seanokeng Ngwako, was inspired to open such a school after having been blessed with a down syndrome son who was different from other children in terms of intellect and learning ability. Her vision was to create a conducive environment to encourage and support such children and give them love so that they are also accepted in the community. These children mostly learn art, bead work and music. They spend the whole day at school and therefore they need to be fed by the school.
KFMI Botswana after discussing and seeing the needs of these children decided to donate drawing papers, crayons, food stuffs and money. They also adopted this school as a project they would like to support long term. Dr Martha and Pastor Lolita handed over the goods collected for the event to the founder of the school. Then the Pastor asked the partners to hold hands around these children and prayed for them. It was such a spirit filled and emotional but successful event.
